Eden alternatives for short-form video research
Short version: Eden is a broad creator workspace (save, read, write, schedule) with a good outlier feed bolted on; if your work is short-form video and the question you keep asking is “why did that one work, and will mine?”, Silma answers it and Eden does not. If your work is newsletters, X and LinkedIn, and you want one place to save, draft and schedule, stay on Eden.
Eden calls itself “the second brain for creators”. It is co-founded by Dan Koe, it is text-first in its DNA (X, LinkedIn, Substack, YouTube scripts), and it has grown a real research layer: a Discover feed of outlier posts across six platforms, creator lists with per-account baselines, transcripts of saved videos, and a scheduler that ships to eight platforms. That research layer overlaps with what Silma does, so this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
Where they overlap
Both tools rank posts by how far they beat their own account’s baseline rather than by raw views. Eden calls it the outlier multiplier and computes it from the larger of the last 7 days or the last 30 posts of a format; Silma uses the median of the last 30 posts and flags at 1.5×. Both let you track a set of creators (Eden: 5, 25 or 60 depending on plan; Silma: 5 or 15). Both have a Discover-style feed. If that were the whole story, the cheaper one would win and you could stop reading.
Where they differ
Eden works from the transcript and the metrics. Silma also watches the video. Eden transcribes what you save and can break a link into hook, beats and payoff from the words. Silma extracts frames and reads them alongside the transcript, which is how it can tell you the text overlay at 0:04 is unreadable at that cut speed, or that the visual opens on a logo while the voice opens on the result. For a writer that distinction is academic. For someone editing Reels it is the entire job.
Eden scores what you already posted. Silma scores the draft. Eden’s Weekly Strategist tells you which of your published posts beat your baseline. Silma’s Pre-Check takes the draft file, returns a 0 to 100 score, a predicted retention curve with the drop points named, and a ranked list of fixes, before anything is public. As of August 2026 nothing on Eden’s site, help center or MCP tool list claims a pre-post score.
Eden is wide. Silma is narrow on purpose. Eden saves articles, PDFs and Kindle highlights, has a Reader with narration, an editor, custom AI writing templates, and scheduling with best-time slots. Silma has none of that and is not going to. It does short-form video research and judgment for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and stops.

When to choose Eden
- You publish across text platforms (X, LinkedIn, Threads, Substack) and want research, drafting and scheduling in one place.
- You save a lot of reading (articles, PDFs, Kindle) and want it searchable and chat-able next to your ideas.
- You want an MCP endpoint so Claude or ChatGPT can query your saved corpus and creator lists.
- You want a free tier to poke at first.
When to choose Silma
- Your output is video. You want to know why a specific Reel worked at the level of frames and cuts, not just that it beat a baseline.
- You want a verdict on your draft before you post it, and a fix list ordered by impact.
- You post for a business and want ideas judged against the person who buys, not against a generic audience.
- You want the research half at $9 to $29 without paying for a scheduler and an editor you will not open.
Other tools people put on this list
Eden’s own comparison pages name several adjacent tools; two show up most often in the short-form video conversation. Sandcastles is, in Eden’s own words, “purpose-built for short-form video”; if you evaluate it, ask the same two questions this page asks: does it read the frames, and does it score a draft. 1of10 and ViewStats are YouTube-centric outlier tools and worth a look if long-form YouTube is your main channel. Questions
Is Silma a replacement for Eden?+
Only for the research half. Eden also saves articles and PDFs, drafts newsletters and X posts, and schedules to eight platforms. Silma does none of that. If you use Eden mainly for its Discover feed and creator lists to find short-form video ideas, and you want the tool to also tell you why a video worked and whether yours will hold, Silma covers that and costs the same or less.
Does Eden analyse video frame by frame?+
Not that its site, features pages, help center or MCP tool list claim as of August 2026. Eden transcribes saved videos and can break a link into hook, beats and payoff from the transcript. Silma reads the frames and the transcript together, which is how it catches pacing, text-overlay readability, and a visual that contradicts the spoken hook.
Does Eden score a draft before you post?+
No such feature is listed as of August 2026. Eden’s Weekly Strategist scores posts you have already published against your baseline. Silma’s Pre-Check scores a draft video 0 to 100 before it goes live, with a predicted retention curve and ranked fixes.
Which one is cheaper?+
For research only, Silma. Eden’s Personal plan is $9 a month but has no AI credits and no creator research; those start on Starter at $29 (5 tracked creators). Silma’s Lite is $9 with 200 credits and Discover, and Starter is $29 with 5 tracked accounts and 600 credits. Eden’s Pro ($79, 25 creators) is broader than Silma’s Pro ($79, 15 accounts) if you also want scheduling and writing.
Can I use both?+
Yes, and some people should: Eden for the reading, writing and scheduling workflow, Silma for the video judgment. There is no integration between them; you would paste a link from one into the other.
